Oak Mountain Wins First JSYFL Championship!

Congratulations to the 80 Blue team for winning the championship 12-7 against Helena. Additional championships narrowly eluded Oak Mountain in the next two games, with the 90 Red team losing to Vestavia Red 14-6, and 105 White losing to Vestavia Blue 14-7 after surrendering a touchdown in the final minute of the game.

This marks the first championship for Oak Mountain since the JSYFL was formed. Oak Mountain had previously won championships in the leagues that preceded the JSYFL.

Congratulations to all players and cheerleaders in the league for representing Oak Mountain so well. We look forward to building on the success of our championship football team and two championship cheer squads in 2010!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR 130 LB. WEIGHT CLASS

Children in this weight class may now weigh up to 150 lbs. at certification and be eligible to play football.

If a player weighs more than 130 lbs. they will be restricted to down lineman positions, from tackle to tackle, on both offense and defense.

Players who are restricted at certification will be required to weigh-in again prior to the beginning of the playoffs.

At the playoff weigh-in, restricted players may weigh up to 160 lbs. and be re-certified for postseason play. The playoff weigh-in only applies to restricted players.

This change applies to the 130 lb. weight class only.

As a reminder, if a player doesn't make weight in the 80, 90, 105, or 120 lb. divisions, they have the option to qualify to play up.
